A collection of pieces made by Karl that take inspiration from the beginnings of Errington Reay pottery in 1878 and the Victorian industrial era. Incorporating ideas founded on the textile, steel and coal production at the time which all played an instrumental part in the pottery's history. The ER pottery is sited and still works from the former woollen mill, with the production of textiles represented in this sculptural piece. The organic form shows the free flowing movement of fabric with a central seam running down the middle. The heavy masculine details of rivets, ripped and folded edges incorporate the heavy steel banding and bolts that hold our kiln in place. This handthrown and manipulated vessel has intense dark salt glazed patterning enhanced by a special slip produced in house and has been finished in our coal fired Beehive kiln with a borax glazed base inside. Size D 17 W 19 Ht 35 cm
