The Rankei is a Japanese style lantern which has been carved from a light grey granite. Originally found over hanging ponds and streams where the architectural design is reflected, the arching coloumn creates a strong focal feature and draws the eye up towards the intricate handcarved pieces that make up the centre of attention on this piece.
