Handmade by our potters in a classic design with a dark stained band and wave etched design. Our crocks made today follow the simplistic style that was first produced over 50 years ago at the pottery. A storage essential for the home coloured and patterned by the traditional salt glazing techniques used in our beehive kiln give each crock an individual look. Finished with a handthrown lid featuring a round handle.

Taking influence from Seaton Delaval Hall and the English baroque style architecture and design by Vanbrugh.
The cylinder has been wheel thrown with a turned rim and base. Deep ridges have been carved using specialist tools and measured by eye to replicate the coloumns that flag the entrance of Seaton Delaval Hall. Decorative rope swirl handles have been added to each side of the cylinder and finished with a circle sprig.
Natural earthy colours from an ER handmade glaze sweep the outside of this piece on a matt body. Inside is smooth with a transparent glaze that highlights the natural body of the clay.
No drainage hole in base.

Extra large bellied pot with a flared rim, line detail on the inner rim and a smooth base featuring waved banding and a sodium silicate crackle glaze body which has ben patterned and stretched on the wheel. Soda fired showing beautiful greens in the glaze and natural patterning.
In this atmospheric firing technique a soda and salt mix is introduced into the traditional Beehive kiln at high temperatures. The salt helps to disperse the soda more evenly over the pots in the large kiln. The mix vapourises in the kiln and combines with the silica in the clay to create naturally forming patterns on the pots giving each piece a truly unique style. Colour variations are achieved from the pot placement within the kiln, those high on the stacks getting a heavy soda flash resulting in green tones and those towards the base of the kiln resulting in a more buff earthy brown. With many beautiful shades in between, the kiln ultimately having the final say on the finished look of each pot.
