To celebrate 145 years of Errington Reay pottery the creatives at the wheel and heart of ER have created a number of limited edition planters for you to enjoy and treasure. Each planter shape has been chosen for its practicalities in planting. Combining classical styles that have been made throughout our long history, united with forward thinking and fresh design elements that set these special pots apart from our regular range and celebrate our heritage and love for pottery. These pots are placed high in the kiln during the firing process to capture the very best colouring and variations created in our Beehive kiln. Fired to high temperatures and salt glazed using traditional methods which have stood the the test of time and produce a frost proof pot. It wouldn't be a birthday celebration, without including one of our most beloved shapes which also nods towards the beginnings of ER's pottery journey. Updated for 2023 by using a mix of white and high temperature firing clay to create a new creamy salt glazed base and decorated with a slip coloured, hand etched, textured body. Combining the very beginnings of the pottery, in its design that echo's the drainage pipes that were at the core of production in the early days of the factory. Brought up to date with an abstract repeated print of the ER logo to give you a unique planter for the garden.

The first in a collection of pieces made by Karl that take inspiration from the beginnings of Errington Reay pottery in 1878 and the Victorian industrial era. Incorporating ideas founded on the textile, steel and coal production at the time which all played an instrumental part in the pottery's history.
The ER pottery is sited and still works from the former woollen mill, with the production of textiles represented in this sculptural piece. The organic form shows the free flowing movement of fabric with a central seam running down the middle. This handthrown and manipulated vessel has a dark salt glaze enhanced by a special slip produced in house and has been finished in our coal fired Beehive kiln with a borax glazed base inside.

Beautifully crafted in a sleek cylinder design, glazed in shades of blue with a high shine finish going into a matt black base. The central disc is handmade in a natural textured finish, from here the water is pumped out through the central hole and flows back into the main vessel between the space in ceramic glazed feature and central disc. Handmade by our expert potters at our workshop in Northumberland and fired in our traditional Beehive kiln. This large pot features a shapely body and 6 raised bands on its upper body and a prominent rim. Fired high in the kiln which has resulted in stunning patterning and shine to the salt glazed finish. There is no drainage hole in the base but an outlet hole has been placed at the bottom of one side, making this piece ideal to be used as part of a water feature.

Taking influence from Seaton Delaval Hall and the English baroque style architecture and design by Vanbrugh.
The cylinder has been wheel thrown with a turned rim and base. Deep ridges have been carved using specialist tools and measured by eye to replicate the coloumns that flag the entrance of Seaton Delaval Hall. Decorative rope swirl handles have been added to each side of the cylinder and finished with a circle sprig.
Natural earthy colours from an ER handmade glaze sweep the outside of this piece on a matt body. Inside is smooth with a transparent glaze that highlights the natural body of the clay.
No drainage hole in base.
